Do you think your dog has separation anxiety?

If you think your dog has separation anxiety where do you start?

First if you can record what they do when you leave that is a great way to know what behaviors they are doing. I.E. panting, drooling, destructive behaviors. The next step is to make a veterinary appointment to get a formal diagnosis from your veterinarian. Often time they might recommend a medication, which can help your dog, be able to learn when you start training.  Lastly, you will want to find a certified trainer, much like myself, to help you with gradual desensitization protocols.  We need to think of your dog’s road to recovery in months not weeks. If you are familiar with the Hare and the Tortoise race, you need think of this race as from the Tortoise point of view, slow is fast.
